Hey there. Welcome to my first blog post. I've never kept up with a blog before so this could be a bumpy ride. I hope you'll stick with me along the way! Here's a little introduction if you don't know me yet.
My name is Lauren (duh, you already know that). I just turned 30 (if you had been sitting right next to me you would've seen that my fingers still think I'm 20-something...*ahem* insert wishful thinking typos). My passions are coffee, music, food, photography, art and nowadays, healthy eating and fitness. Not sure how much of a back-story you all would willingly read here so I'll just start from my college days and go from there. Maybe I'll dip my toes into my earlier past in another post.
I graduated Frostburg State University with a bachelor's degree in Music. It was going to be music performance...another story for another time. After graduating, I went on to work for a company in sales and website content management, customer service, administration, HR... well, I did a lot there. I have always had a passion for the arts so I started seriously painting a few years ago and it stuck. (If you like my art, please #supportthearts and check out my shop!) In 2015 I decided to "get healthy and lose weight." It's been a rollercoaster of learning, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. My heaviest weight was 314 lbs (and if you want me to go into detail about how I got there, what caused the weight gain, what I'm doing to battle it, etc. please comment so I can figure out if you all are interested in that); and with various meal plans and exercise I lost over 100 lbs (112 to be specific, because let's be real, numbers are a big deal when losing weight). In 2018 I married my husband and in 2019 after losing that 100+ lbs, I fell pregnant with our son Noah!
Right now I'm taking a little break from painting (it's hard to get anything done with an infant ok!), but for sure I'll be getting back to it. I'm working from home as needed for the same company I worked for prior. But mostly I'm focusing on being mommy and wife, while jumping back into my weight loss goals.
I'm on a journey, like so many are. A journey toward health, happiness and a life full of... well... LIFE.
I hope this intro was adequate *nervously chuckles*. Thanks for being here!
Oh - I'm also attempting to learn Portuguese because it's the native language of my husband and his entire family, so you might see a bit here and there.
